Become a Certified Babysitter With Safe Sitter Training
Safe Sitter is a nationally recognized program designed to prepare students in grades 6-8 to be safe when they are home alone, watching younger siblings, or babysitting. This is an instructor led class filled with fun and games, while teaching life saving skills and safety.
Although geared towards 6-8 graders, it is open to anyone interested in babysitting and safety skills.
Safe Sitter® Course Overview of Lesson Plans
What You Will Learn:
Safety Skills
Students learn how to recognize unsafe situations, as well as how to respond to those and other emergencies, such as power outages and severe weather. These skills equip students to stay calm and confident in unexpected situations.
Child Care Skills
Students are taught effective strategies to manage children’s behavior, helping them stay in control of themselves and the children they care for. They also learn about the stages of child development and gain hands-on experience with diapering, and daily care.
First Aid and Rescue Skills
Often a highlight of the course, students learn life saving techniques such as choking rescue and CPR. They are also trained to assess and respond to a variety of injuries and illnesses using a structured, step-by-step approach. CPR training is included in the Safe Sitter® Essentials with CPR and Safe Sitter® Expanded courses.
Life and Business Skills
To prepare students for success, the course teaches them how to screen jobs, discuss fees, and interact professionally with employers. Role-playing exercises allow students to practice these important skills, building their confidence in real-world scenarios.
Course Requirements
Active Participation:
Students are expected to fully engage in all course activities, discussions, and hands-on practice sessions throughout the class.
Class Duration:
The course is 6 hours long. Students should plan accordingly and bring their own lunch.
Pre-Registration and Payment:
Pre-registration is required to secure your spot in the class. Payment must be submitted in advance.
Student Workbook:
Each student is required to have a workbook, which will be ordered upon registration and handed out at the start of the class.
Optional Babysitter Tools: (available from safe sitter)
Babysitter tools, such as activity planners, pens, and other resources, are available for purchase upon request at an additional cost. A flyer will be sent to registrant for review and can be ordered through the instructor.

Instructor fee: $75
Workbook: $18
Student will receive backpack, pen, flashlight, notepad, and first aid kit
Max class size is 8, larger groups will be divided into 2 class dates
